McClanahan recalls his trip to England in the summer of 1984 after selling the
movie rights to his first book. In Dorset he unlikely befriends
Widmerpool, a Manchester policeman. When the author dings Widmerpool's
Vauxhall during cocktail hour, Widmerpool surprisingly laughs it off - the
next day he would go into Dorchester and assert his authority over the small
town blokes. After receiving a low estimate for the damage, Widmerpool
attempts to bilk the author's insurer out of a few hundred quid. The
shop manager, Mr. McIntyre, has none of it and sends Widmerpool away
flustered. McIntyre suggests that the author keep his mouth shut and
return to his side of the Atlantic and let him take care of it. The
author back home in Kentucky and the matter months and thousands of miles
behind hime, a communique arrives...

McClanahan pays tribute to his mother and introduces us to aspects of her
character through her image and personal and business lives. This
collage broadside reproduces the author's handwritten text (including her
recipe for "Easy 'East Rolls"), small drawings, flour handprints
and smudges (on both sides) through silkscreening. Each is affixed
with a photograph of his mother and embossed with her corporate seal. Size:
